How to Remove Sticker Adhesive:

Few things in life are as frustrating as removing stickers. There is at least one on nearly everything we buy at the store, and often several. Worse than that, they are frequently affixed to a spot on the item where removing them is, if not necessary, certainly good for aesthetics.

Instructions:

• There are several products on the market which are supposed to remove a variety of unwanted substances from things around the house. The products include "Goo Gone" and "Oops!". While they do work to some extent, they are generally expensive - $3 to $4 for just a couple of ounces
• Fortunately, there is a product that not only works better than all the rest, but it costs the least. The product is mineral spirits. That is not a brand name. Mineral spirits are the basic ingredient in many paint thinners. You might have to read the list of chemicals to find out whether a paint thinner is made from mineral spirits. Some are made from turpentine, which isn't what you want
• There is no trick to applying the mineral spirits. After you have scraped off the sticker, simply wet a cloth or sponge with a small amount of the spirits, and rub the sticky area gently until the adhesive residue is completely dissolved. It shouldn't take more than a few seconds, and no effort is required. Mineral spirits are safe to use on just about every surface, but you should probably test it on an inconspicuous area first, if you aren't sure. Most stickers are made of paper, of course, and mineral spirits won't dissolve paper. However, if you dampen the sticker with mineral spirits before scraping it, enough should seep through the sticker to begin dissolving the glue, which makes scraping the sticker off that much easier
